The True South Classic is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in Madison, Mississippi, and as of 2011 is played in July. The tournament is held at the Annandale Golf Club. From 1968 to 1993 it was played at the Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
On the PGA Tour this week is the True South Classic, a tournament that will be played from the 19th of July to the 22nd at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi. The tournament features a purse of $3,000,000 and there are also 250 FedEx Cup points available as well. Chris Kirk is the defending titlist, having won $648,000 last year in this tournament. Next on the PGA Tour, the Open Championships at the Royal Lytam St. Anne, in Lancashire, England, and the RBC Canadian Open will be after that.
The most recently played tournament on the PGA Tour is the John Deere Classic, won by Zach Johnson, who took home $828,000. It happened at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois with a $4.6 million dollar purse, and was held July 12th through the 15th. The field this year includes Brian Gay, Spike McRoy, Woody Austin and Brian Harmon as well as Dicky Pride, Ted Purdy, Parker McLachlin and William McGirt. Others include Fulton Allem, Hunter Haas and Kris Blanks, as well as Scott Stallings and Chris Riley.
